RISO ScreenMaster Mesh

A unique combination of polyester screen printing mesh and thermal film, enables RISO ScreenMaster to replicate any design within seconds using a unique thermal transfer process - not chemical.

Full professional results are easily achieved using a simple thermal process to transfer your design onto the RISO ScreenMaster screen mesh. The process can be performed on a bench top, in any light conditions, and is completely safe.

 About RISO ScreenMaster
How does ScreenMaster differ from traditional silk screen mesh?
RISO ScreenMaster is a unique combination of screen mesh and thermal film which is pre-coated to the mesh - therefore pre-tensioning the screen. This removes many of the normal steps in creating a screen printing screen and provides some unique benefits over traditional silk meshes.

You can take the mesh on and off the frame without changing/ distorting the design, as the pre-tensioned screen does not move
You won’t build up a store of bulky wooden frames as frames are reusable with different designs
Your ongoing operating costs are lowered by re-using materials and equipment
 Grades of mesh available

There are 2 mesh grades which will suit all types of applications:

70Mesh [70 strands per square inch] - all fabric, wood and ceramic printing
135Mesh [135 strands per square inch] - plastics, metals, vinyl, paper and non-pours surfaces

You may ask 'what mesh do I need for printing . . .', that's generally a pretty easy question to answer as the two mesh types server two different purposes. In general if your material is absorbent/ porous then the 70Mesh is suitable, but if the ink will sit on top of the item until it dries/ cures then the 135Mesh will avoid 'mesh marks' in your print.

Using the wrong grade of mesh
When you print an item that is non-absorbent, or NOT using the 'off contact' printing method you are likely to receive a print that contains 'mesh marks' - this being where the strands of the mesh become visible on your item.

Examples include using 70Mesh to print plastics, glass, metals and some paper.

Pictured right it an actual print result of 'mesh mark' caused by printing 70Mesh onto gloss paper. The design still prints however the quality is poor and the ink coverage is patchy, enabling the colour of the material underneath to show through.

The following example is NOT applicable to fabric printing.
Here's the original design - also how it would print using the finer 135Mesh or a PRINT GOCCO Master [200Mesh]
This example is 200% the normal size to show you the 'mesh mark' effect produced by using 70Mesh on a non-absorbent surface. The actual result is shown above in the full print.
Different machines for different mesh and applications
It is important to understand the finer 135Mesh can not be successfully imaged with Print Lamp Technology and requires the ScreenFax SP-275, or MG-11 model, which uses electronic Xenon Lamps to produce the required heat. Print Lamps produce too much heat and the mesh is effectively melted when the image is flashed.
NB: Some exceptions to this rule do apply where VERY fine work applies and carbon content in the artwork is very low. Tests and results to date using 135Mesh and Print Lamps have been inconclusive and can not provide a suitable guideline for successful imaging procedures every time.

RISO ScreenMaster 70Mesh
70Mesh is used with water based inks in all standard fabric screen printing applications i.e. T-Shirts, Fabric & Material printing. 70Mesh is also used for ceramic applications.

70Mesh is now available in convenient pre-cut A4 sheets, as well as by the roll. The sheet material suits both the Large and Small Plastic Frame [A4 & A5] and is ideal for infrequent users and customers using Thermal Copiers to image screens.

Pre-cut sheets store flat in the kit and are easily removed and reattached from frames after printing.
